<h1>Section 20 violations under Depositories Act carry ten years imprisonment and twenty-five crore rupees fine</h1> Section 20 of the Depositories Act, 1996 establishes criminal penalties for violations of the Act and its subordinate regulations. Any person who contravenes, attempts to contravene, or abets contraventions faces imprisonment up to ten years, fines up to twenty-five crore rupees, or both. Additionally, failure to pay penalties imposed by adjudicating officers or the Board, or non-compliance with their directions, results in imprisonment ranging from one month to ten years, fines up to twenty-five crore rupees, or both. These penalties are separate from any administrative penalties imposed under the Act.
