<h1>Importers and exporters must declare Importer-exporter Code in documentation under Rule 12, Foreign Trade Rules 1993.</h1> Under the Foreign Trade (Regulation) Rules 1993, Rule 12 mandates that importers and exporters must declare their Importer-exporter Code Number in relevant documentation, such as the Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill, when goods are imported or exported through customs ports. This requirement also applies to goods associated with services or technology. Any individual using another's Importer-exporter Code will be liable for violating this rule and subject to penalties under section 11(2). Recent amendments have extended these provisions to include goods related to services or technology.
