Seizure power: authorised officers may seize articles or currency suspected to be linked to contraventions. Section 16 authorises a gazetted officer, authorised by the Central Government, to seize any article above the Act's value threshold or any Indian or foreign currency if the officer has a reason to believe that the person possessing or controlling the article or currency is linked to a contravention of the Act.
