<h1>Section 16 FCRA empowers officers to seize articles over thousand rupees when violations suspected</h1> Section 16 of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 empowers gazetted officers authorized by the Central Government to seize articles valued over one thousand rupees or currency when they reasonably believe such items are possessed in contravention of the Act. The provision applies to both Indian and foreign currency and covers situations where violations have occurred or are ongoing. Officers may act under general or special authorization orders to enforce compliance with foreign contribution regulations.
