Investigation powers under foreign contribution law grant designated authorities police-equivalent powers to probe cognizable offences. Section 28 authorises the Central Government to specify an authority to investigate offences under the Act, and vests that authority with the same powers as an officer-in-charge of a police station when investigating a cognizable offence, notwithstanding the Code of Criminal Procedure.
