of <h1>Designation of Bench for High Court requisitions/referrals under s256(2)/s258: assigned to rule-40 Bench unless senior officer directs otherwise</h1> Where a requisition is received from the High Court under section 256(2) or a case is referred back under section 258, the instrument prescribes that the matter must be dealt with by the Bench specified in rule 40, thereby designating the competent Bench for such matters; this designation is subject to alteration by direction of the President, the Senior Vice-President or the Vice-President, as applicable, such that the operative effect is assignment to the rule-40 Bench unless and until one of those officers directs otherwise.
