          <h1>Bill of entry deadline tightened: presentation by next working day or prescribed late-presentation charges apply.</h1> The amendment requires the importer to present the bill of entry before the end of the next day (excluding holidays) following arrival at the customs station where goods are to be cleared for home consumption or warehousing; presentation may alternatively occur within thirty days of the expected arrival of the conveying aircraft, vessel or vehicle; where presentation is not within the specified time and the proper officer finds no sufficient cause, prescribed late-presentation charges may be imposed.
