Indian Trusts Act Section 20 Amended: Trustees Now Have Broader Investment Options Without Specific Security Restrictions
Section 20 of the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, as amended by the Indian Trusts (Amendment) Act, 2016, is further revised. The amendment allows trustees to make investments as expressly authorized by the trust instrument or in any securities or class of securities. Additionally, the proviso that previously referenced specific securities or classes of securities is removed, thereby broadening the scope of permissible investments under the trust.
