<h1>India Bans Edible Oil Exports Under Chapter 15, Allows Exceptions for Castor & Coconut Oil, SEZs, and Forest Produce.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, issued a notification on March 17, 2008, prohibiting the export of all edible oils under Chapter 15 of Schedule I, effective immediately. Exceptions to this ban include the export of castor oil, coconut oil through Kochi Port, and certain oils produced from minor forest produce. Additionally, deemed exports to 100% export-oriented units for non-edible products and exports from Domestic Tariff Areas to Special Economic Zones for food processing are permitted. This ban, initially set until September 30, 2011, was issued in the public interest.
