India Amends Foreign Trade Policy to Allow Export of 10,000 Metric Tons of Organic Edible Oils Annually
The Government of India has amended its Foreign Trade Policy to allow the export of 10,000 metric tons of organic edible oils annually, despite a general prohibition on edible oil exports effective until September 30, 2011. This exemption requires certification by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and registration of export contracts with APEDA, New Delhi, prior to shipment. Exports are permitted only from Customs EDI Ports. This amendment adds to existing exemptions for specific oils and conditions, such as exports in branded consumer packs and oils produced from minor forest produce.
