India Extends Edible Oil Export Ban; Exemptions Include Castor and Coconut Oil, Small Branded Packs Until October 2011.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade in India has extended the prohibition on the export of edible oils under Chapter 15 of the ITC(HS) Classification until September 30, 2011. However, exemptions are granted for specific exports: castor oil, coconut oil from Cochin Port, deemed exports of edible oils as raw materials for non-edible goods, and oils produced from minor forest produce. Additionally, exports of edible oils in branded consumer packs up to 5 kg are allowed, with a limit of 10,000 tons, until October 31, 2011. These exemptions are not subject to the general prohibition or quantity ceiling.
