<h1>New Section 275B Requires Access to Books for Inspection; Non-compliance May Lead to Imprisonment and Fine</h1> Section 275B is added to the Income-tax Act, effective June 1, 2002, by the Finance Act, 2002. It mandates that individuals must provide authorized officers with the necessary access to inspect books of account or other documents as required under clause (iib) of sub-section (1) of section 132. Failure to comply with this requirement results in punishment, including rigorous imprisonment for up to two years and a possible fine.
