Foreign Trade Policy validity preserves prior authorisations while allowing executive amendments, subject to transitional conditions.

The policy remains in force until further amendment with the Central Government empowered to modify it by notification; authorisations issued before commencement continue valid for their original purpose and duration unless otherwise stipulated. Earlier public notices and similar instruments remain operative so long as they are consistent with the present policy. If an export or import freely permitted under the policy is later restricted, shipments made within original validity and under irrevocable commercial instruments are ordinarily permitted, subject to prescribed time limits for operationalising such instruments.
