<h1>Amendment to Section 158 of Customs Act: Penalty up to 50,000 for Violating or Assisting in Rule Violations.</h1> In the Finance Bill, 2008, an amendment to Section 158 of the Customs Act is proposed. It involves replacing clause (ii) in sub-section (2) with a new provision. The revised clause stipulates that any individual who violates or assists in the violation of any rule or regulation, or fails to comply with a required rule or regulation, will be subject to a penalty of up to fifty thousand rupees.
