Regulation 7B limits insolvency professionals to ten assignments, only three with claims above INR 1,000 crore.
Regulation 7B caps the number of assignments an individual insolvency professional (who is not an insolvency professional entity) may hold simultaneously. Such a professional cannot at any time handle more than ten assignments in total, combining roles as interim resolution professional, resolution professional in corporate insolvency resolution processes, and liquidator in liquidation processes. Within these ten, no more than three assignments may each involve admitted claims exceeding INR 1,000 crore. A transitional provision restricts any professional already exceeding these limits at the commencement of the 2025 amendment from accepting new assignments until their ongoing assignments fall within the prescribed thresholds.
