Public servant disclosure restrictions attract punishment and require prior Central Government sanction for prosecution. A public servant who furnishes information or produces a document in contravention of section 258(3) is liable to simple imprisonment up to one month, or fine, or both. Prosecution under the provision cannot be instituted without the previous sanction of the Central Government.
