Mode of payment requirement: prescribed non-cash modes mandated for loans and deposits when statutory thresholds are met. Requires prescribed non-cash modes for receipt of loans, deposits and specified sums when the amount or the aggregate of current and outstanding amounts from the same person meets the statutory threshold. Acceptable modes include account payee cheque, account payee bank draft, electronic clearing through bank accounts, or other prescribed electronic modes. Exclusions cover Government, specified banking and statutory corporations, Government companies and notified institutions; an exemption exists where both parties have only agricultural income and no income chargeable under the Act. A higher threshold applies for transactions involving primary agricultural credit societies and primary co-operative agricultural and rural development banks and their members.
