of <h1>SEBI Requires Investment Managers to Implement Whistleblower Policy with Safeguards Against Victimization Effective April 2023</h1> The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) mandates that investment managers establish a vigil mechanism, including a whistleblower policy, for directors and employees to report genuine concerns. This mechanism must include safeguards against victimization and allow direct access to the audit committee chairperson in exceptional cases. Investment managers may engage an independent service provider to operate the mechanism, which will report to the audit committee. The audit committee is responsible for reviewing the mechanism's functioning. This regulation was inserted by a notification effective from April 1, 2023.
