of <h1>Trustees Must Register Under SEBI Regulations; InvIT Trustees Can't Serve Employee Benefit Trusts. No Voting Rights for Trusts.</h1> The trustee of an employee benefit trust must be registered under the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Debenture Trustees) Regulations, 1993. The trustee of an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) is prohibited from serving as the trustee for an employee benefit trust. Additionally, the employee benefit trust or its trustee is not permitted to vote based on the units of the InvIT held by the trust. These provisions were inserted through a notification dated July 9, 2024.
