of <h1>Confidentiality in India-Chile Trade Agreement: Protecting Competitive Info, Verifying Imports, and Ensuring Fiscal Safeguards via Article 17.</h1> The Rules of Determination of Origin of Goods under the Preferential Trading Agreement between India and Chile, 2007, stipulate that information obtained under these rules is to be kept confidential to protect the competitive position of the information providers. This information is used for verification by the importing Party's authorities and during legal proceedings. Previously, during investigations, customs authorities could not suspend new imports of identical goods from the same exporter but could deny preferential tariffs or request guarantees to protect fiscal interests. The guarantee amount was determined according to Article 17.
