All searches under the Central Excise Act or its rules and all arrests under the Act shall, unless otherwise provided in the Act, be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to searches and arrests; the substitution imports the criminal procedure framework into excise enforcement while preserving any specific exceptions in the Act and takes effect from the date of Presidential assent.
