of <h1>Amendment to Customs Act Section 153: Approved Couriers Now Allowed for Notice Delivery, Expanding Beyond Registered Post.</h1> Clause 124 of the Finance Bill, 2012 proposes an amendment to section 153 of the Customs Act. It replaces the phrase 'registered post to the person for whom it is intended or to his agent' with 'registered post or by such courier as may be approved by the Commissioner of Customs.' This change allows for the use of approved courier services for delivering notices, expanding beyond traditional registered post. The amendment will become effective upon the President's assent to the Bill.
