Principal Commissioner Can Revoke Courier Registration for Non-Compliance Under Regulation 14; Appeal Possible Within 60 Days
Regulation 14 of the Courier Imports and Exports (Clearance) Regulations, 1998 allows the Principal Commissioner or Commissioner of Customs to revoke the registration of an Authorized Courier and forfeit their security for non-compliance with bond conditions, regulation provisions, or misconduct. Before revocation, the courier must receive notice and an opportunity to respond. If an inquiry is deemed necessary, the registration may be suspended pending its outcome. An aggrieved Authorized Courier can appeal the decision within sixty days to the Principal Chief Commissioner or Chief Commissioner, who must resolve the appeal promptly after hearing the parties involved.
