Foreign contribution registration requires bona fide applicants free of disqualifying convictions and risks to national interest. Applications for grant of a certificate of registration or prior permission must be filed in the prescribed manner and include details of an FCRA Account. The Central Government may reject incomplete applications, and where satisfied after inquiry it may register the applicant or grant prior permission, subject to conditions including absence of fictitious or benami status, no convictions for conversion, communal tension, diversion or sedition, no contravention of the Act, established reasonable activity or project, absence of disqualifying convictions of officers, and assurance that acceptance will not prejudice sovereignty, security, public interest, elections, foreign relations or social harmony.
