of <h1>FCRA Section 16: Associations must file renewal in Form FC-3C under Rule 12(2) well before expiry to avoid lapse</h1> Authorities remind associations registered under the FCRA that Section 16 requires renewal applications within six months before certificate expiry and the Central Government ordinarily renews within 90 days; Rule 12(2) mandates electronic submission in Form FC-3C with affidavits. Late filings-commonly made less than 90 days before expiry-prevent adequate scrutiny, may cause certificates to lapse and bar receipt/use of foreign contribution under Rule 12(5), disrupting activities. Associations are advised to submit renewal applications well in advance and, in any event, not later than four months before expiry to ensure timely processing and avoid inconvenience.
