Wealth Tax Rule 4AA: Updated Procedure for Settlement Applications and Disclosure to Commissioner under Section 22D.
The Wealth Tax Rules, 1957, specifically Rule 4AA, addresses the disclosure of information in applications for settlement of cases. The Settlement Commission, when requesting a report from the Commissioner, must forward a copy of the application in Form DA, excluding the Annexure and accompanying documents, along with the relevant order or intimation under section 22D. If the application is not declared invalid or is allowed to proceed further, the information in the Annexure and accompanying documents is sent to the Commissioner. This rule was amended in 2007, updating the procedure for handling such applications.
