<h1>Nominees Can Encash or Subdivide National Savings Certificates After Holder's Death; Apply with Proof to Postmaster.</h1> In the event of a certificate holder's death, the nominee(s) of a National Savings Certificate (IX-Issue) can encash or subdivide the certificate into appropriate denominations. The surviving nominee(s) must apply to the Postmaster with proof of the holder's and any deceased nominee's death. If multiple nominees exist, they must jointly discharge the certificate upon receiving payment or subdivision. If a nomination is made for a single or two adult nominees, the post office may issue a new certificate in their names upon application.
