Service of SEBI summons and notices may be by personal delivery, electronic transmission, courier or publication if needed. Regulation 11A prescribes that Board summons and notices may be served by personal delivery to the person or authorised agent, by fax, electronic mail or instant messaging (with digital signature and where bounced email is not valid service), or by courier/speed post to residence or place of business with acknowledgement due; faxed documents must note pages when annexures are included. If these modes fail, the notice may be affixed to a conspicuous part of the person's premises with a written report signed by two witnesses; failing that, publication in two newspapers (one English national and one regional language) is required.
