of <h1>India Amends Import Policy for Integrated Circuits: Mandatory CHIMS Registration Required Effective August 1, 2021.</h1> The Government of India has amended the import policy for integrated circuits under specific HS Codes in Chapter 85 of ITC (HS), 2017, Schedule-I. The revised policy mandates compulsory registration under the Chip Imports Monitoring System (CHIMS) for these items, effective from August 1, 2021. Importers must provide advance information online and obtain a Registration Number by paying a fee based on the CIF value. Registration is valid for 75 days and must be included in the Bill of Entry for customs clearance. CHIMS online registration and testing commenced on May 1, 2021, on a trial basis.
