This new authority will replace the existing authorities constituted under section 245-O of the Income-tax Act, 1961, and section 28F of the Customs Act, 1962, which cover central excise, customs, and service tax. The Act applies throughout India and will commence immediately for certain sections, with the remaining provisions activated by a government notification.
