Legal Disabilities and Limitation Period: Section 6 of Limitation Act Allows Extensions for Minors and Disabled Persons
Section 6 of the Limitation Act, 1963, addresses legal disabilities affecting the initiation of suits or applications. If a person is a minor, insane, or an idiot at the start of the limitation period, they can file the suit or application after the disability ends, within the same period as originally allowed. If affected by multiple disabilities, they can act after all disabilities cease. If the person dies while still disabled, their legal representative has the same period to initiate proceedings. If the representative is also disabled, similar rules apply. A minor includes a child in the womb.
