Understanding Section 30 of the Sales of Goods Act, 1930: Valid Transfers by Seller or Buyer Retaining Possession
Section 30 of the Sales of Goods Act, 1930, addresses situations where a seller or buyer retains possession of goods or their title documents after a sale. If a seller, still in possession post-sale, delivers or transfers the goods or documents to a third party in good faith and without knowledge of the prior sale, it is as if they were authorized by the owner. Similarly, if a buyer, with the seller's consent, transfers the goods or documents without the third party knowing of any seller's lien, the transfer is valid as if no lien existed.
