Removal of warehoused goods clarified: owner may transfer goods between warehouses subject to prescribed conditions under Customs Act.
The Customs Act replaces the existing provision on removal of warehoused goods by substituting a new section that expressly permits the owner to transfer goods from one warehouse to another. The amendment conditions that such removal is allowed only subject to prescribed conditions, thereby authorises owner-initiated transfers while delegating the detailed procedural or compliance requirements to subordinate rules. The operative effect is a statutory recognition of inter-warehouse transfers constrained by regulations to be issued under the Act.
