of <h1>Amendment to Income-tax Act: Section 40A Updated with New Sub-Clause on Perquisites and Annuity Language Change.</h1> The Taxation Laws (Amendment) Act, 1984, modifies section 40A of the Income-tax Act, 1961. In sub-section (5), clause (b) of Explanation 2, the amendment removes the word 'and' from sub-clause (iv). It replaces 'an annuity' with 'an annuity; and' in sub-clause (v). Additionally, it introduces a new sub-clause (vi) that includes the amount treated as a perquisite under sub-clause (vi) of clause (2) of section 17.
