of <h1>Income Tax Act Section 17 Amended: Salary Threshold Raised to Rs. 24,000, Clause Adjustments Made Effective April 1, 1986.</h1> Section 17 of the Income-tax Act is amended by the Finance Act, 1985, effective April 1, 1986. In clause (2), paragraph (c) of sub-clause (iii), the salary threshold is increased from eighteen thousand rupees to twenty-four thousand rupees, excluding non-monetary benefits. Additionally, in clause (2), as amended by the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Act, 1984, sub-clause (iv) now ends with 'and,' the 'and' at the end of sub-clause (v) is removed, and sub-clause (vi) is omitted entirely.
