        Certification standards: NISM sets exam and continuing education requirements that determine eligibility for employment in the securities market. NISM, acting under delegation from the Board, must establish and implement certification processes, procedures and policies for associated persons; in consultation with the Board it may prescribe examination standards, continuing professional education requirements and other qualifications applicable to specified categories of associated persons or intermediaries and may make compliance with those standards a precondition for employment or continued engagement by an intermediary.
