The amendment substitutes 'article 162, article 241 or article 279A' for the previous text 'article 162 or article 241' in clause (a) of the proviso to Article 368(2). This change means that amendments to Article 279A (which relates to the Goods and Services Tax Council) now require ratification by legislatures of at least half the states before presidential assent, placing it under the same special protection as other fundamental constitutional provisions. This amendment took effect from September 16, 2016.
