Registration as an Authorised Courier may be granted after the Principal Commissioner or Commissioner of Customs scrutinises an application under regulation 7 and is satisfied that the applicant fulfils registration requirements. The earlier cap on registered couriers at a Custom House has been omitted. Earlier provisions prescribing registration validity and renewal based on satisfactory performance, absence of misconduct complaints, and compliance with applicable obligations have also been omitted.
