of <h1>2024 Amendment Reduces Cargo Handling Period, Extends Service Provider Validity in Customs Areas under Customs Act, 1962.</h1> The Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas (Amendment) Regulations, 2024, modifies the 2009 regulations under the Customs Act, 1962. Effective upon publication, the amendment changes regulation 5, sub-regulation (3), reducing the specified period from ten to five. Additionally, regulation 10, sub-regulation (2), is revised to extend the validity of appointments for Customs Cargo Service Providers under the Authorised Economic Operator Programme, as long as their authorisation remains valid and is not suspended or revoked according to Regulation 12. These amendments were issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs.
