The policy has changed from 'Free' to 'Free subject to compulsory registration under the Paper Import Monitoring System (PIMS)'. Importers must register online, providing advance information and paying a registration fee of Rs. 500. Registration is valid for 75 days, allowing multiple entries within this period. The policy applies to 201 specific tariff lines, effective from October 1, 2022, with online registration available from July 15, 2022. Importers must include the registration number in their Bill of Entry for customs clearance.
