of <h1>Urad imports stay 'restricted,' with 4 lakh tonne annual quota limited to approved millers/refiners; exemptions for government commitments</h1> Import of Urad (Vigna mungo) under ITC(HS) Chapter 7 is retained as 'Restricted' and further subjected to an annual fiscal-year quota of 4 lakh metric tonnes. Imports within this quota are permitted only to millers/refiners, in accordance with the procedure to be notified by DGFT, thereby limiting eligible importers and conditioning clearance on quota allocation and procedural compliance. The quota restriction does not apply to imports undertaken to meet Government commitments under any bilateral or regional agreement or memorandum of understanding, allowing such committed quantities to be imported outside the quota. The revised import policy takes effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
