Summary: Section 135 mandates that companies meeting prescribed financial thresholds form a CSR Committee to draft and recommend a CSR policy aligned with Schedule VII activities, recommend expenditure, and monitor implementation. The Board must approve, disclose and ensure execution of the policy and ensure annual spending of the prescribed portion of average net profits, with specific rules for surplus utilisation, local-area preference, and disclosure in board reports and statutory filings; non-compliance attracts penalties and officer liability.

Summary: Contravention of current account restrictions under the Foreign Exchange Management Act occurs when foreign exchange is acquired or used for purposes other than declared, not surrendered, or applied to unauthorized purposes. Rule 4 and Schedule II prescribe specific transactions requiring prior government approval or registration. Penalties on adjudication can reach up to three times the quantifiable amount or a statutory maximum where not quantifiable, with additional daily penalties for continued breaches. An enforcement example hinges on whether audited financial statements establish that royalty remittances fell within permissible limits and whether authorities produced contradicting evidence.

Summary: Exporters of India's chemical products must comply with a layered regulatory framework requiring DGFT registration and an Importer Exporter Code, sectoral oversight by authorities such as FSSAI, CIB&RC and BIS, maintenance of prescribed export documentation and safety data sheets, testing for residue and contaminant limits, and adherence to international conventions and foreign regimes (e.g., Rotterdam, Stockholm, REACH, TSCA, GHS) for hazardous chemicals alongside domestic environmental and hazardous waste rules.
      By: YAGAY andSUN
Summary: Export of refrigerants from India requires an Importer Exporter Code and strict domestic environmental compliance for handling and transport, plus accurate customs and safety documentation. International agreements phasing out ozone depleting substances and reducing high GWP gases constrain market access and require exporters to secure certifications demonstrating low GWP or non ozone depleting properties for destination markets. Compliance costs, supply chain volatility, and evolving standards drive a transition toward low GWP and natural refrigerants and necessitate R&D and certification to maintain export competitiveness.

Summary: The court applied Article 21 safeguards to limit the twin conditional bail requirements under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in a money laundering prosecution linked to alleged irregularities in a state water supply scheme, noting that key evidence was documentary, two co accused had earlier secured bail, a minister was not implicated as an accused, and further Enforcement Directorate investigation was ongoing.
Summary: Approval of a corporate insolvency resolution plan for RITE BUILTEC PRIVATE LIMITED names Aspect Global Ventures Private Limited as resolution applicant, records admitted claims exceeding the stated sum, and provides for full payment to the identified secured financial creditor within a short post-approval period. The Committee of Creditors completed approval within a year and the tribunal stage concluded thereafter to enable delivery of homes and rent dues to affected slum-dwellers.
Summary: Restriction on high court intervention in interlocutory matters from prior orders limiting appeals to the Supreme Court is the key issue; the registry must compile all special leave petitions filed under those judgments so a reconstituted bench can decide whether the bar continues and whether it extends to related money laundering complaints, and whether parties must follow ordinary Criminal Procedure routes for stays instead of filing special leave petitions directly.
Summary: The core point is that the proviso to the money laundering bail provision permits a Special Court to release a woman on bail, and prosecuting agencies must not advance submissions contrary to that statutory exception; the exception applies irrespective of occupation or background, subject to Special Court assessment of flight risk and likelihood of tampering with evidence.
Summary: Launch of Round-the-clock services at a major airport branch extends continuous access to foreign currency exchange, forex travel cards, travel insurance, and international money transfers, supported by modern infrastructure, trained staff, and an emphasis on regulatory compliance to address urgent traveler and expatriate needs.
Summary: Approval of SGST reimbursement concessions was granted for two hydropower projects to improve financial viability via joint ventures between the state and CPSUs, with state equity participation; the projects involve substantial capital investment and are expected to provide recurring free power allocations and local area development funds. The cabinet also approved a restoration policy for terminated large hydropower projects with substantial site progress to facilitate timely revival and promote investment and employment.
Summary: The Startup India initiative establishes a policy framework combining startup recognition, streamlined compliance, targeted tax benefits, and dedicated funding mechanisms including a Fund of Funds and seed financing to reduce regulatory friction and expand access to capital. Complementary capacity building, regional outreach, sectoral policies, and digital platforms are deployed to strengthen state and non metro ecosystems, improve stakeholder connectivity and promote international collaboration to support formation, scaling and employment generation.
Summary: Advocate expedited administrative settlement of disaster relief claims through factual, correct assessment and analysis to avoid judicial recourse, coupled with public awareness against exaggerated claims. Maintain and augment relief financing via the State Disaster Relief Fund and National Disaster Relief Fund; recent budget increases strengthen response capacity. Implement the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024 to establish national and state disaster databases. Adopt a whole-of-government approach integrating armed forces, meteorological services and civil agencies, and pursue a ten-point agenda-including risk mapping technology, capacity building and international cooperation-to develop climate resilient infrastructure and early-age disaster management education.
Summary: The Department of Financial Services reviewed implementation of flagship financial inclusion and social security programmes-PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY, PMMY, Stand Up India and PM Vishwakarma-and directed banks to intensify enrolment and outreach. Authorities emphasised opening brick-and-mortar branches in unbanked villages, prioritising North Eastern and remote areas, resolving connectivity and infrastructure gaps, and ensuring targeted credit delivery to SC/ST beneficiaries under Stand Up India while achieving MUDRA targets.
Summary: Money laundering investigation focuses on alleged payment irregularities for the Hyderabad Formula E event, with an ECIR filed under the PMLA following an Anti Corruption Bureau complaint; probe targets about 55 crore in largely foreign currency payments allegedly made in violation of prescribed procedures, and has led to questioning of a senior political leader and senior bureaucrats.
Summary: A senior state politician was arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and placed in custodial remand after raids, questioning and recovery of documents. The enforcement agency alleges he received recurring cash payments as proceeds of crime while serving as excise minister, facilitated policy changes including FL-10A licences to benefit a liquor syndicate, and is named in witness statements and call data records as a recipient of monthly payments.
Summary: Bail was granted to a former state minister in PMLA proceedings concerning alleged irregularities in the public distribution system, subject to a substantial personal bond and bail bond with sureties, following consideration of his prolonged custody and claimed cooperation; the investigating agency had opposed bail citing seriousness of charges and potential evidence tampering and had filed a charge sheet against him and co-accused.
Summary: Arrest and custodial remand were ordered under money-laundering laws after searches and questioning in an alleged excise-linked liquor fraud; the enforcement agency alleges the former excise minister was the principal recipient of proceeds of crime, receiving substantial periodic cash payments from a liquor syndicate, while the minister denies wrongdoing and claims the action is politically motivated.
Summary: Bank regulatory balance and risk management are emphasized as major U.S. banks posted strong results: JPMorgan reported sharply higher quarterly and record annual profits driven by investment banking fees, markets revenue, and consumer account growth, with slightly lower loan-loss provisions and reduced interest income. Wells Fargo also showed large earnings gains while committing to strengthen financial crimes controls and suspicious-activity monitoring under a regulatory agreement.
