of <h1>India's CFSS-2020: Waive Penalties for Late Filings, Immunity for Defaulting Companies, April-September 2020.</h1> The Companies Fresh Start Scheme, 2020 (CFSS-2020) was introduced by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to allow companies in India to rectify filing defaults without incurring additional fees. Effective from April 1 to September 30, 2020, the scheme permits defaulting companies to file overdue documents with only the standard fees, granting immunity from penalties and prosecutions related to filing delays. It also allows inactive companies to apply for dormant status or strike off their names from the register. The scheme excludes certain cases, such as companies under amalgamation or vanishing companies. Post-scheme, actions will be taken against non-compliant companies.
