of <h1>Government Sets 2008-09 Marble Import Rules: Licensing Required, Price Floors Set, Import Cap at 1.40 Lakh MT.</h1> The government has established guidelines for importing rough marble blocks and slabs for 2008-09, applicable to specific EXIM codes. Import is restricted and requires licensing. Eligibility is limited to manufacturers/processors with prior imports under the SIL list. Licenses have a floor price: US$ 275/MT for crude or roughly trimmed marble and rough blocks, and US$ 450/MT for slabs. The total import ceiling is 1.40 lakh MT. Entitlements are based on certified turnover from previous years. Applications are due by July 20, 2008, and license holders must file monthly import returns.
