Prior notice and supervised de-sealing required before resuming production on previously sealed packing machines under excise control
A manufacturer intending to resume operation on a previously sealed packing machine must give prior intimation at least three working days before the proposed resumption date to the jurisdictional Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise. Upon such intimation, the machine is to be de-sealed under the physical supervision of the jurisdictional Superintendent of Central Excise. The operative effect is to condition lawful resumption of production on timely prior notice and supervised de-sealing, ensuring excise control over recommencement of machine operation.
