High Courts can now issue writs beyond territorial limits if cause of action arises within jurisdiction per Article 226 amendment.
Article 226 of the Constitution was amended by the Constitution (15th Amendment) Act, 1963. A new clause (1-A) was added, allowing any High Court to issue directions, orders, or writs to any government, authority, or person if the cause of action arises within its territorial jurisdiction, even if the government or authority's seat or the person's residence is outside those territories. Additionally, in clause (2), references to 'clause (1)' were updated to include 'clause (1) or clause (1-A)' to reflect this change.
