          <h1>Term limits for tribunal officeholders clarified: chairperson and members have fixed tenure and transitional appointments capped.</h1> Section 5 prescribes fixed terms of office for tribunal Chairperson and Members and operates notwithstanding other laws. Chairperson and Members hold office for prescribed terms or until specified retirement ages, whichever is earlier. A proviso preserves, for appointments made between 26 May 2017 and the notified date, any longer term or later retirement age specified in the original appointment order, subject to an overall maximum term of five years.
