Medical reimbursement rules for employees' family: CS(MA) 'family' definition, annual outdoor cap, authorised doctors/hospitals set
Officers and employees are made eligible for medical reimbursement for self and declared family members, with 'family' defined as under the Central Services (Medical Attendance) Rules, 1944, thereby aligning entitlement with that definition. Outdoor medical reimbursement is capped annually at actual expenditure or one month's pay as on 1 January (basic pay plus dearness allowance), whichever is lower, requiring a doctor's prescription and original bills; increments or promotions during the year do not alter the cap, and joining mid-year limits entitlement on a pro-rata basis, thereby prescribing claim conditions and a fixed annual ceiling. Outdoor treatment must be obtained from authorised medical attendants on the Tribunal's panel. For indoor treatment, entitlement is restricted to Tribunal-authorised hospitals and governed by CS(MA) Rules, 1944 for equivalent pay, with emergency treatment at authorised hospitals permitted only on an authorised medical attendant's advice.
