Examination of goods allows right holders and importers to inspect suspended shipments and obtain samples to test for infringement. The Principal Commissioner, Commissioner or an authorised officer must allow a right holder and the importer or their authorised representatives to examine goods with suspended clearance and may provide representative samples for examination, testing and analysis to determine whether the goods are pirated, counterfeit or otherwise infringe an intellectual property right, subject to protection of confidential information.
