<h1>India-Japan Economic Deal: 2017 Rules for Bilateral Safeguards Enforced Under Customs Tariff Act and Customs Act</h1> The India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Bilateral Safeguard Measures) Rules, 2017, established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Finance, Central Board of Excise and Customs, are enacted pursuant to the powers granted by the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, and the Customs Act, 1962. These rules are designed to implement bilateral safeguard measures as part of the economic partnership agreement between India and Japan. They became effective upon their publication in the Official Gazette on January 24, 2017, as per Notification No. 7/2017 - Customs (N.T.).
