of <h1>Foreign residents prohibited from transferring Indian immovable property under Regulation 8 FEMA 2000 without RBI permission</h1> Regulation 8 of FEMA 2000 prohibits persons resident outside India from transferring immovable property in India, except as permitted under the Act or Regulations. The Reserve Bank may grant permission for such transfers subject to necessary conditions. An exception allows authorized dealer banks to permit Indian residents to create charges on their immovable property in favor of overseas lenders or security trustees to secure external commercial borrowings, subject to Reserve Bank directions under specified borrowing regulations.
